REGISTERING

All first time users must register by setting up a profile before logging on to ILLiad. To register:

  • Go to the Interlibrary Loan Services home page.
  • Select the “First Time Users” link.
  • Please read the document and the copyright statement.  Press the "First Time Users Click Here" button located at the bottom of the page.

A "New User Registration" form will display.

  • Complete the registration form. Required fields must be filled in.
  • Click on the "Submit Information" bottom at the bottom of the screen after completing the form.

REQUESTING MATERIAL

Logon to Illiad using your username and password.  Your Main Menu for ILLiad will open.  When you choose a request type, a request page for that particular type of request will open up. 

  • Use the ILLiad Request a Book form to request the loan of an entire work.  Examples include books, loans of microfilm reels and microfiche.  Prior to submitting these types of requests, check the VSU Online Catalog to be sure the material is not owned by the library.   Please note that we cannot accept requests for textbooks for currently offered courses.
  • Use the ILLiad Request a Photocopy form to request an article within a journal.  Please check the VSU Journal Locator before submitting this type of request to be sure the VSU library does not own the item.  Photocopies become your property and do not have to be returned. 
  • Use the ILLiad Request a Book Chapter form to request a single chapter within a book.
  • Use the ILLiad Request a Thesis/Dissertation form to request theses and dissertations that are published at other Colleges/Universities.
  • Use the ILLiad Request a Conference Paper form to request a conference paper.
  • Use the ILLiad Request Other form to request videos and any other type of material.

VIEW/EDIT/CANCEL REQUESTS

  • To view, edit or cancel your outstanding requests:
  • Log on to ILLiad
    • At the "Main Menu" page, click on "View/Edit Outstanding Requests".
    • Click the "Return to List" button to view your personalized list. You may view the status of your request at anytime.
    • Click on the "Edit Request" button to bring up the editing screen.
    • Click on the "Cancel Request" button to cancel requests in the system.

Users will be able to cancel requests only prior to processing by staff.

RENEWING INTERLIBRARY LOAN MATERIALS

  • Logon to ILLiad using your username and password.
  • Scroll to "Checked Out Items" and press the button to display Interlibrary Loan items checked out to your username.
  • Select the item that you wish to renew by pressing the appropriate Transaction Number button to the left.
  • Check to see if renewals are allowed (there is a question towards the bottom of the page "Renewals Allowed?") If renewals are allowed, press the button "Request Renewal" at the TOP RIGHT corner of the screen.
  • Check to see if renewals are allowed (there is a question towards the bottom of the page "Renewals Allowed?") If renewals are allowed, press the button "Request Renewal" at the TOP RIGHT corner of the screen.
  • If renewals are not allowed, please return the book as soon as possible to prevent receiving overdue notices and having your account suspended.
  • After renewing a request, you will be notified of the new due date.
  • "Return to the List" where you may continue to view/renew other items checked out to your ILLiad account.
  • When you are finished using ILLiad, please exit by pressing the button labeled "Exit ILLiad System" at the top of the Main Menu.

Troubleshooting

There are several reasons why you could be having trouble logging on to ILLiad.

  • Please do not re-register as a first time user if you are having trouble logging on.
  • Passwords are case sensitive. Check the caps lock - did you have the caps lock on when you registered to use the ILLiad Request System, or is it on now?
  • Incorrect Username or Password Have you forgotten your username or password? If you can not remember your username or password please contact the Interlibrary Loan Office at 524-6944. ONLY Interlibrary Loan staff members can tell you your username or reset your password.
  • You may have pressed the button "Logon to ILLiad" more than once. This slows the system down. Please do not press ANY button more than once.

CHANGING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

The Interlibrary Loan Department will use the information you supply when registering with ILLiad to identify and contact you. It is, therefore, important to keep this information current and accurate.

To update your personal information:

  • Log on to ILLiad.
  • At the "Main Menu", click on "Change User Information".
  • Edit any field you wish and click on the "Submit Information" button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD

To update your password:

  • Logon on ILLiad.
  • At the "Main Menu" page, click on "Change Password"
  • Enter your current password followed by your new password (twice).
  • Click the "Submit Information" button to save your new password.

Your password is changed instantly.
